ASK NICK: The 14Hour Summer Burnout


The Question: "Nick, it’s June and the heat is getting brutal. My clients want to move all their sessions to either 6:00 AM or 8:00 PM. I’m already working 14-hour split days to fit everyone in and I’m completely exhausted. How do I survive this summer schedule shift?"


The Answer: First of all, congratulations on being that busy. But if we are being completely honest, that is exactly where your problem starts, why are your working 14 hour days?


Let's look in the mirror for a second. Why is your calendar shaped like this?

  • Is it because you are incredibly ambitious and building an empire?

  • Is it because you’re a people pleaser who is terrified of telling a client 'no'?

  • Or is it because you actually need that massive volume of sessions just to cover your basic living costs?


If you are already tired in the winter, keeping up this pace in the peak Mediterranean heat is going to make you physically ill. You are fast tracking straight to medical burnout.


Clinging to 14-hour split days just to keep clients happy is madness. You leave the house at 5.30AM, crawl back at 8.30 PM and spend the massive gap in the middle of the day, too exhausted to build your business or enjoy your life. Your business owns you.


If you have to run yourself into the ground for 14 hours a day just to pay your bills, your business model is fundamentally broken. It usually means one of two things...


  1. You are trapped in a commercial gym giving away a massive chunk of your hard earned income in commission or rent.

  2. Your prices are simply way too low because you're competing on price rather than value.


Once you have a solid, properly priced foundation of committed clients, your business should be able to breathe and absorb the natural shifts of the summer...just like any other business on the island.


Running yourself into the ground isn't hustle., it's madness. If you keep trading your health for low value hours, you won't have a business or much health left by October.
